I participated in the SFS Summer program in Iceland when I was 16. It was a transformative experience to say the least. I later went on to earn a MSc at USM in Marine Science and Hydrography, followed by a career with NOAA both on land and at sea. Having experienced the rigors of hands-on data collection at a very young age, I could truly appreciate what it meant to be a scientist working in the field. I would not trade that experience for anything in my career.

Favorite SFS Memory: Going to the geothermal heated pool after 21 days in the field.
