Dr. Cramer has had a distinguished career in higher education and study abroad. Of particular relevance is his tenure from 1998-2005 as the very successful President and CEO of World Learning and the School for International Training (SIT) in Brattleboro, VT.

Prior to leading World Learning, Dr. Cramer served in a variety of teaching and administrative capacities in higher education. He was a senior researcher at Georgetown University Law Center. At the University of Maryland, Cramer served in the European division and, for a decade, lived in Japan where he was Executive Director of the International Business and Management Institute (IBMI) in Tokyo. He also directed executive education programs at the School of Business at University at Albany – SUNY and served as assistant dean for business, technology, and international programs at UC Berkeley Extension.

Most recently, Dr. Cramer lived and worked in Costa Rica where, among other activities, he was a board member and helped develop an innovative, bilingual, K-12 school that integrated classroom work with community-based experiential education focused on sustainable environmental practices.

Dr. Cramer is a graduate of Florida State University and earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Tennessee. The author of numerous academic books and articles, his opinion pieces on international business and intercultural relations have appeared in leading newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal Asia, International Herald Tribune, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, and The Japan Economic Journal (Nikkei Keizai Shimbun).
