Staff Profile
I grew up in midcoast Maine and have always loved being on or near the water. In high school I had the opportunity to become scuba certified (in January, in Maine), and since then I’ve loved being under the water, too! I studied Biology and Environmental Studies at Brandeis University, where I was also a member of the track and field team. During and after college, I worked for East Coast Divers in Boston, where I earned my SSI Divemaster and Assistant Instructor certifications. I spent the summer of 2019 at SFS TCI, and I’m very excited to be back! Since then, I’ve put my scuba skills to use teaching Open Water students in the pool, conducting research on lobster habitat behavior with UMaine’s Darling Marine Center, and cleaning up abandoned lobster traps in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Most of my diving experience has been spent in chilly New England, but besides my time in TCI I’ve had the opportunity to dive in Bonaire and Grenada. I also spent some time working at the New England Aquarium in Boston, where I learned about marine animals and environments from all over the world, and made friends with a few penguins (watch out, they bite!). If I’m not outside hiking, swimming, biking, snowboarding, etc., then I’m probably doing some sort of arts & crafts or curled up with a good book.
